I have never come across an application like Housekeep yet, but I am sure it can be very useful. Housekeeper is an application that you can use to keep your household organized and tracked. You can create Shopping lists for groceries, look at when you purchased food and when it will expire, and managing any category of items (ie: food).
Housekeeper helps you keeping track of any items (like food or drugs) in your household. You can specify expiry dates so you always have an overview of what you should use or rebuy in the near future. Also, shopping lists can easily be created an exported.
Housekeeper is also available for Windows, Macintosh, and Linux Operating Systems. Maybe Housekeeper can be of some use to you? This may be a great idea for a College Student who lives in a Dorm with a roommate.
