Mo’time is a new service that is much like Blogger in that it allows you to sign up and create a blog for free. But, what Blogger does not have the Mo’time has is Instant Messaging and Community features. Mo’blog is a project by Tipic Inc., which is an Instant Messaging Server, that lives up to its slogan, “More than instant messaging.” That have incorporated an Instant Message Client built into the blogging system that you can freely add friends from Mo’time.

The community system is excellent. First, they have the Mo’time Instant Messenger that you can download that will act as a normal instant message client, but also alert you when blogs that you subscribe to using Mo’time are updated. On top of that, you can make a friends list, view currently online bloggers, and see who has subscribed to your blog. There is more! Mo’time even has a built in Private Messaging system that acts much like email called, mo’mail.

If you do not wish to download additional software just for the Instant Messaging feature, you can use the built in client (as seen in the below screenshot). It is a Java based client, which personally is a negative to me, but it does get the job done and rather smoothly.

The blogging system built into Mo’time is excellent. From the point of signing up, you simply create an account. When you log into your account, you are going to want to click on the “Add new blog” button. You will then be asked for some information, such as the Blog name, address, and description. The next step will be to choose out of a large selection of pre-made templates, which look great by the way. Once you finish that, you are ready to go! Click on the “Blogs” tab and you will be presented with a WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) editor which has the main functionality as Microsoft Word. If you do not like that, you can easily switch to the HTML Source instead. You even have the ability to add tags to each post for you folksonomy fans. Once you are done, click, “Post and Publish,” and you are all set. That is all to it!

Overall, Mo’time is a great service that give you amazing features for blogging and for meeting new people online. The system itself reminds me much of Blogger, but the community system built in is excellent.
